The Government of Assam has signed an MoU with Airports Authority of India for prefeasibility studies related to five new greenfield airports in the state.

The proposed airports are aimed at improving regional connectivity, boosting tourism, and supporting economic development across underserved areas of the Northeast.

The initiative aligns with India’s broader aviation expansion strategy under regional connectivity programmes.

The projects are expected to stimulate infrastructure investment, logistics growth, and employment generation in the region.
