JSW Steel and South Korea's POSCO Group have signed a non-binding Heads of Agreement (HoA) to jointly explore the possibility of setting up a 6 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) integrated steel plant in India. 

The proposed venture would be a 50:50 joint venture and aims to leverage JSW's strong domestic presence and execution capabilities with POSCO's technological expertise in steelmaking. 

The partnership builds on an earlier Memorandum of Understanding and aligns with the government's "Atmanirbhar Bharat" initiative to create a globally competitive manufacturing hub. 

A detailed feasibility study is now underway to determine the plant's final location, with Odisha being a strong contender.
