Coal cargo terminal opens at Brundamal, boosting Odisha’s port infrastructure

Petroleum  -  Oct 09,2025  -

A new coal cargo terminal has been inaugurated at Brundamal near Jharsuguda, enhancing Odisha’s logistics and port-handling capabilities.

The terminal, developed under a public-private partnership model, is designed to handle large-scale coal shipments efficiently, serving both industrial consumers and thermal power plants across eastern India.

Officials said the facility will significantly reduce congestion at existing terminals and streamline coal movement from nearby mines to end users.

The opening of the terminal also supports the state’s broader industrial corridor plan, which focuses on improving last-mile connectivity for minerals and bulk commodities.

Industry observers believe this will strengthen Odisha’s role as a logistics hub for eastern and central India.
