Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for city gas distribution projects worth Rs. 3,685 crore by Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited in the Nilgiris and Erode districts of Tamil Nadu.

The projects will expand natural gas infrastructure and provide piped natural gas connections to households, industries, and commercial establishments.

Officials said the development will promote cleaner fuel usage and support energy transition initiatives.

The CGD network will also improve availability of compressed natural gas for transportation.

The project is expected to strengthen gas infrastructure in the region.
