UP secures contracts worth Rs 16,000 crore for data centre projects

With a goal of dominating the South Asian data centre market, Uttar Pradesh has secured contracts in the new-age sector for Rs 16,000 crore.

A data centre is a building that holds common IT (information technology) operations and tools for processing, storing, and distributing data and applications.

To entice private sector investors, the government is in the midst of changing its current data centre regulations.

The state intends to build lesser capacity data centres in the state’s hinterland as part of this proposed programme. The goal of the initiative is to draw in private investment totaling Rs 30,000 crore over the following five years.

Data centre projects in UP include those of Hiranandani Group, Adani Group, NTT Japan, and Web Werks, among others.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will inaugurate the state’s first data centre park in Greater Noida, on October 31.
