UP govt approves Rs 2,700 crore sewerage treatment projects as part of Mission Clean Ganga

The National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG) executive committee authorised sewerage infrastructure projects worth more than Rs 2,700 crore at its 46th meeting.

In Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, and West Bengal, these projects are slated. Afforestation Program for Uttarakhand and Bihar in 2022–2023, projected to cost Rs. 42.8 crore, was also approved.

A significant project in West Bengal to revitalise the River Adi Ganga, a tributary of the Ganga, in Kolkata was approved at a cost estimate of Rs 653.67 crore.

It comprises building three sewage treatment plants (STPs) with capacity of 10, 11, and 3.5 million litres per day (MLD), respectively.

In Uttar Pradesh, a total of three projects were approved. It includes a project pertaining to development of sewerage infrastructure in Prayagraj costing Rs 475.19 crore
