The Tamilnadu government has proposed to build a massive footwear manufacturing park at Panapakkam in the Ranipet district for an estimated $400 crore.

Chief Minister M K Stalin made a statement in this regard on Thursday after officially opening a new building that cost 118 crore and houses the Ranipet collectorate.

He expressed confidence that the proposed park would enhance Ranipet district’s status as the best global footwear manufacturing and exporting hub.

More than 20,000 individuals, mostly women, will have work prospects thanks to the projected park, he claimed.

Stalin said that in response to a request made by the water resources minister Duraimurugan during the dedication of a newly rebuilt bus terminal in Vellore, the government decided to build a Sipcot industrial park on a 300-acre property in Katpadi taluk, Vellore district.
