The State Industries Promotion Corporation Of Tamilnadu (SIPCOT) is a state-owned enterprise in Tamil Nadu, India that is responsible for promoting industrial development in the state. SIPCOT is planning to establish a new special economic zone (SEZ) in Idaikkal R F, Ulundurpettai, Kallakurichchi, Tamil Nadu. The SEZ will cover an area of 77.09 hectares or 190.42 acres, and the estimated cost of the project is Rs. 23020 million. The purpose of the SEZ is to encourage economic growth and development by attracting foreign investment and promoting exports. The construction activity for the project is scheduled to start in July 2023 and is expected to be completed by September 2025. However, as of March 2023, the environmental clearance for the project is still underway, which means that the project has not yet received the necessary approvals from the environmental authorities.
