NTPC Pakri Barwadih coal mining project gets a new bio-methane plant

A bio-methane plant has been constructed at the National Thermal Power Corporation’s (NTPC) Pakri Barwadih coal mining project.

The energy produced by this plant will be utilised to power the project’s canteen.

The restaurant’s LPG consumption will be reduced, expenditures will be reduced, and waste created on the grounds will be utilised to generate energy using this plant.

Biogas is a renewable energy source that can be utilised repeatedly, according to project general manager Prashant Srivastava.

Biogas is a renewable energy source, just like solar and wind energy. Srivastava comments, “It’s a gas mixture formed by the breakdown of organic matter in the absence of oxygen. Its major component is methane, which is combustible and produces heat and energy when burned”.
