Novartis announces new production facility at Mumbai’s Kalwe

Novartis announced the opening of a new production facility for generic oral cancer medications at Mumbai’s Kalwe neighbourhood, .

The factory, which is 32,000 square metres in size and equipped with cutting-edge production equipment, is designed to serve foreign markets. It presently employs 70 people, but there are plans to hire more as manufacturing capacity and capabilities improve.

The factory, which was constructed on a brownfield site, has effluent treatment systems in place to enable sustainable manufacturing operations.

Novartis said the plant, which marks a new chapter for its Sandoz business, will further strengthen the company’s operations in India and play a key role in driving global growth for its generics business.
