NHAI expects to complete ECR expansion project in Mayiladuthurai and Karaikal by July 2024

By July 2024, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) expects to have completed the East Coast Road expansion projects in the districts of Mayiladuthurai and Karaikal.

National Highway-32, which uses East Coast Road to connect Chennai and Thoothukudi, is being widened by NHAI.

A 55-kilometer route between Kadavacherry and Vanjore is being expanded, at a cost of about Rs 2,661.75 crore. The project covers the districts of Cuddalore and Nagapattinam.

The agency is currently speeding up the project.

The project becomes more significant as a result of its essential contribution to enhancing communication between coastal regions and the ports of Chennai, Thoothukudi, and Karaikal.
