New Mega Solar Power Projects in India – 2021

  • EDEN Renewables India is planning to take up new solar power project in Rajasthan. The project involves setting up solar power with capacity 450 MW. The estimated cost of the project is Rs.12033 million. The company has tied up with DBS Bank, Standard Chartered Bank and the Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (Singapore Branch). On February 2021, The project, currently under construction in Rajasthan, was awarded to EDEN within the context of a tender launched by the Solar Energy Corporation of India. The project’s commissioning is expected towards H1/2021. As of March 2021, Total Eren and EDF Renewables announced that EDEN Renewables India has successfully secured financial closure for its 450 MW SECI III solar PV project with a group of three major international banks.
  • NTPC is planning to take up new floating solar PV project in Ramagundam, Peddapalli, Telangana . The project involves setting up around 450 MW of solar power capacity, is all set to commission around 217 MW floating solar capacity, including one of the largest floating solar power plants of 100 MW. The estimated cost of the project is Rs.4300 million. As of March 2021, The floating solar PV project at NTPC Ramagundam will be spread over 450 acre water surface area in the reservoir.
  • Coal India is planning to take up new solar power project in Gujarat. The project involves design, engineering, procurement, construction, testing, and commissioning of a 100 MW (AC) grid-connected solar power project. The estimated cost of the project is Rs.4500 million. The last date to submit the bids is April 15, 20201. Bids will be opened on April 16. As of April 2021, Coal India Limited (CIL) has invited bids for the project.
  • Torrent Power is planning to take up new solar power plant in Gujarat. The project involves setting up 300 megawatt (MW) solar power plant. The estimated cost of the project is Rs.12500 million. The project shall be commissioned within 18 months from the date of execution of the PPA. As of April 2021, The company has signed a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) with its Licensed Distribution Business Unit towards fulfilment of its statutory Renewable Purchase Obligation (RPO),
  • Renewsys India is planning to take up Solar PV modules manufacturing project in MIDC Patalganga, Raigad, Maharashtra. The project involves manufacturing of solar photovoltaics modules with capacity of 1200 MW. The company has filed industrial entrepreneurs’ memorandum on February 2021. As of May 2021, the project is in planning stage.
  • Godawari Power and Ispat is planning to take up new captive solar PV power plant in Silatra Industrial Area, Raigarh, Chhattisgarh. The project involves set up a captive Solar PV Power Plant of 250 MW capacity. The estimated cost of the project is Rs.7500 million. As of June 2021, The Board of Directors approved the proposal.
  • Tata Power Solar Systems is planning to take up new solar PV project in Gujarat. The project involves to build 210 megawatt peak (MWp) of solar PV projects for NTPC. The estimated cost of the project is Rs.6860 million. The commissioning deadline has been set as November 2022. As of June 2021, Tata Power, has received a letter of award (LoA) from NTPC.
