Modi lays foundation stone for projects worth Rs 31,000 crore in Tamilnadu

Prime Minister Narendra Modi dedicated to the nation and laid the foundation stone of 11 projects worth over Rs 31,400 crore at Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium in Chennai on May 26.

 

This includes, foundation stone of six projects, estimated at Rs 28,500 crore, including Chennai Port-Maduravoyal elevated expressway, and Multi Modal Logistic Park in Chennai.

“These projects will also help significantly improve socio-economic prosperity in the region, have a transformative impact on several sectors and help create employment opportunities,” said an official release.

Modi dedicated five projects worth over Rs 2,900 crore, including the long-pending 75km long gauge conversion project between Madurai and Theni. The 30km long third railway line between Tambaram and Chengalpattu will facilitate running of more suburban services.

The 115km long Ennore-Chengalpattu and 271km long Thiruvallur-Bengaluru section of Ennore-Thiruvallur-Bengaluru-Puducherry-Nagapattinam-Madurai-Thoothukudi natural gas pipeline, will enable supply of natural gas to consumers and industries in three states, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh.
