Memsift Innovations, a Singapore-based business that treats industrial liquid waste, has won a contract from India to construct a resource recovery facility for the manufactured fibres (MMF) industry using their upgraded membrane distillation technology, the TS-30. Gujarat will see the plant’s commissioning in the third quarter of 2023.
Compared to the top technologies currently on the market, Memsift’s technologies recover up to 100% of the chemicals and up to 98 percent of the water from industrial liquid waste streams. By taking into account the manufacturing carbon footprint of the chemicals that will be recovered in this project, the “no chemicals, no steam” project may be able to achieve a negative carbon footprint.
The estimated emission reduction will be about 1.47 million kg of carbon dioxide every year, which is equal to 3,356 barrels of fossil fuel.
