To alleviate the region’s water issues, the Maharashtra cabinet has approved the first phase of the Rs. 4293 crore Marathwada Water Grid Project.
The project’s initial phases will be carried out in Aurangabad and Jalna, according to Finance Minister Sudhir Mungantiwar’s press conference.
The setting up of the water grid’s bidding process on the basis of a hybrid annuity received approval from the council of ministers as well.
The grid project aims to build an integrated piped network to supply water for drinking, industrial, and agricultural purposes throughout the year. Marathwada, which consists of eight districts, has historically been a low-rainfall area.
