L&T & KEC win Chennai Metro Phase 2’s track contracts

The 118.9 km Chennai Metro Phase 2 project selected Larsen & Toubro and KEC International – Vijay Nirman Company JV as the lowest bidders for two ballastless track work contracts.

The contract for the 45.813 km Line-3, with a scope between Madhavaram Milk Colony and Sholinganallur Station, was awarded to Larsen & Toubro. Tata Projects and Larsen Toubro are building this section, which is mostly underground.

KEC – VNC JV was awarded the contract for the 47 km Line-5, which included the area inside Madhavaram Depot and between Madhavaram Milk Colony and CMBT Station.

In January 2022, Chennai Metro Rail Ltd. (CMRL) issued a request for proposals for both. Three bidders for Line-3 and four for Line-5 were revealed when technical bids were available in June.
