Leading alcohol business firm to set up Rs 210 crore grain-based ethanol plant in Punjab

Jagatjit Industries Ltd, a company that deals in alcohol, will invest Rs 210 crore in the construction of a grain-based ethanol manufacturing facility in Punjab to meet the growing demand for this green fuel for blending with petrol.

Jagatjit Industries, established in 1944, is one of the nation’s top producers of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) and local alcoholic beverages.

The business includes production facilities in Behror, Rajasthan, and Kapurthala, Punjab. It is listed on the Bombay Stock Exchange.

“We are setting up a greenfield grain-based ethanol manufacturing facility at Hamira, Kapurthala district in Punjab with a capacity of 200 kilo litres per day (200 KLPD). The total project cost is around Rs 210 crore,” Roshini Sanah Jaiswal, Promoter and Chief Restructuring Officer of Jagatjit Industries, said.
