Investments worth Rs 36,000 crore planned for greenfield airports under PPP mode: V K Singh

 

Union minister V K Singh said that under the public-private partnership model, investments worth Rs 36,000 crore are planned for the development of greenfield airports. He also cited “highly price-sensitive customers” and high jet fuel taxes as major challenges facing the country’s civil aviation sector.

According to the International Civil Aviation Organization regulations and the DGCA’s civil aviation requirements, suitable safety measures are already in place for guaranteeing safe operation of aircraft at airports, including those with table-top runways, in written submissions to the Lok Sabha.

The harmful impact of the COVID epidemic, excessive taxes on aviation fuel, the financial health of some airlines, and inadequate infrastructure, according to Singh, are among the biggest difficulties facing the aviation business
