IIT Bombay, JSW Group sign MoU for steel technology hub

An exclusive strategic agreement has been reached between IIT Bombay and the Sajjan Jindal-controlled JSW Group to build an ultramodern JSW Technology Hub for steel production in India.

With assistance from the Ministry of Steel, the Government of India, and other business partners, IIT Bombay established The Centre of Excellence in Steel Technology (CoEST). According to a release, the JSW Technology Hub will be developed within the CoEST with the primary goal of enabling a swift increase in the production of high-quality steel while keeping carbon emissions within the desired ranges.

In order to build capabilities in the area of steel technology for the Indian conglomerate, JSW Group will be able to conduct and ramp up research and development (R&D) efforts in the steel sector thanks to the cooperation with IIT Bombay.
