Govt sets aside $275 million for airport upgrade till FY 26

The development of new airports, the expansion of passenger terminals, the upgrading of runways, the building of taxiways and the construction of new ATC towers are among the airport infrastructure projects for which the Centre has set aside over $275 million.

This is consistent with the recently introduced regional connectivity project UDAN 5.0, which would change laws to promote aviation access to non-metro airports.

More than 70 projects worth 180 million dollars are anticipated to be completed by the middle of 2024. A greenfield airport is being built in Hirasar (Rajkot), terminal buildings are being extended in Surat and Goa, the civil enclave of the airport in Gwalior is being expanded, and an ATC is being built in Kolkata, among others.
