GAIL to establish green hydrogen plant in Madhya Pradesh

GAIL India Ltd has announced the winning of a contract to build one of India’s largest green hydrogen ectrolysers using Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) technology.

The project will be built in accordance with the national hydrogen mission at GAIL’s Vijaipur Complex in Madhya Pradesh’s Guna District, and would run on renewable energy.

The project is expected to produce roughly 4.3 metric tonnes of hydrogen per day (at a capacity of around 10 MW) with a purity of around 99.999 volume %. According to the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, it is expected to be operational by November 2023.

The contract was awarded to a vendor with a domestic value addition of more than 50%.
