GACL’s Phosphoric acid plant to be commissioned by February 2023

With a daily production capacity of 1,087 tonnes, Gujarat Alkalies and Chemicals Limited (GACL)

is one of India’s leading producers of caustic soda (TPD). By February 2023, GACL’s new

phosphoric acid factory is anticipated to be operational. The phosphoric acid factory is currently

90.2% finished. The factory has 520 crore in capital expenditure.

Recently put into operation, the coal-based caustic soda power plant (a joint effort with NALCO)

is currently stabilising. The plant can produce 800 TPD. By January 2023, unit two is anticipated

to be put into operation. The project’s overall cost, including units one and two, is Rs. 2,300 crore.

The Dahej Chlorotoluene Project’s coal-fired power plant has been put on hold.

The power plant has a capacity of 65 MW and will cost Rs 325 crore. Chlorotoluene project at

Dahej with a capacity of 90 TPD will cost Rs 350 crore and presently, basic engineering work is

under progress for the plant.

GACL has three complexes at Vadodara, Dahej-I, and Dahej-II. Major products in Vadodara are

– caustic soda group, caustic potash group, hydrogen peroxide, chloromethanes, and poly

aluminium chloride.
