Bhoomi pooja for the much awaited Dharwad Belagavi direct railway line is likely to be performed
on January 12, 2023.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be in the city to inaugurate the National Youth Festival on
January 12,. The youth festival is being organised to mark the birth anniversary of Swami
Vivekananda.
PM Modi will also inaugurate the campus of IIT-Dharwad.
At present, there is no direct rail line between Dharwad and Belagavi, and the train takes a
circuitous route via Londa, Khanapur. The new railway line will reduce the distance by 32 km.
Sometimes, the journey takes upto 3 hours for a distance of just 78 km. People were demanding
a direct railway line betweeen two important cities of North Karnataka for a long.
