Coal India to set up 1,190 MW solar power plant in Rajasthan

In order to build a 1,190 MW solar power plant in the Rajasthani district of Bikaner, Coal India Limited (CIL) and Rajasthan VidyutUtpadan Nigam Ltd (RUVNL) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). In Poogal, Bikaner, RVUNL is building a 2,000 MW solar park where the plant will be constructed.

The Rajasthani government has allocated 4,846 hectares of land for the solar park, where RVUNL would add its own 810 MW solar power project and CIL will build the remaining 1,190 MW.

In the presence of Union Minister of Coal Pralhad Joshi and Chief Minister of Rajasthan Ashok Gehlot, RVNUL CMD R K Sharma and Technical Director of Coal India Limited V Reddy signed the Memorandum of Understanding.
