Central government approves setting up of ethanol plant in Himachal Pradesh

The ethanol plant being built by Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) in Himachal Pradesh’s district Una has received approval from the Central government.

For 500 crore, this facility will be built on 30 acres of land. The main crops utilised to produce ethanol are maize, rice, and sugarcane. As a result, this plan will also contribute to the improvement of the local farmers’ economy.

The matter has been brought up with the Centre by Chief Minister Thakur Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu. Kangra, Hamirpur, Bilaspur, and Una districts would supply the plant’s raw materials.

In addition, this factory will give locals and farmers in Kangra, Hamirpur, Bilaspur, and other regions of the state options for work and self-employment.

With the establishment of this plant, about 300 people of the area will get direct and indirect employment opportunities.
