Bharti Airtel has announced the commissioning of a new 21-megawatt solar power plant in Maharashtra’s Buldhana district as part of its commitment to decrease its carbon footprint and contribute to global efforts to mitigate the effects of climate change.

The solar-powered machine is expected to reduce carbon emissions by 25,517 tonnes per year, according to the business.

The captive power unit, which spans 80 acres, was built by Airtel in collaboration with Avaada to provide renewable energy to the company’s Nxtra data centres and switching centres in Maharashtra, according to a statement.
