Adani Power Limited (APL), IHI Corporation, and Kowa Company Ltd. (Kowa) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to investigate the feasibility of modifying the Adani Power Mundra Coal Fired Power Plant to achieve a 20% liquid ammonia co-firing ratio and then extending this to a ratio up to 100% mono-firing.
APL intends to lead India’s efforts to meet greenhouse gas reduction objectives by assessing the feasibility of using green hydrogen-derived ammonia as a fuel in thermal power generation in existing thermal power plants.
APL was helped by Kowa, which conducted a global assessment of hydrogen and ammonia-related power production technology.
