Adani new industries installs India’slargest wind turbine in Gujarat

As part of its growth aspirations for renewable energy, Adani New Industries Ltd (ANIL) has constructed a wind turbine in Mundra in Gujarat that is taller than the Statue of Unity and has blades that are broader than the wingspan of a jumbo aeroplane.

MundraWindtech Ltd (MWL), an Adani Enterprises Ltd. wholly-owned company, installed the turbine (AEL).

The prototype has paved the way for the installation of even larger wind turbine generators and is also ANIL’s first addition to its repertoire.

MilindKulkarni, Chief Operating Officer, MWL says, “The proto assembly was completed in a record of nineteen days. It is installed, commissioned, and we shall soon go for a type certification now. This prototype has laid a foundation stone for us to go for another prototype, which shall be even taller than the 140 metre hub height. Going forward, we shall manufacture our own blades, while we have already started the assembly of Nacelle, and Hub in our own upcoming facility in Mundra. Standing 200 metre tall, the wind turbine has the capacity to produce 5.2 MW of electricity and can power approximately 4,000 homes”.
