Kerala to soon get hydrogen filling stations: Union Minister

Rameshwar Teli, the Union Minister of State for Petroleum, declared that the ministry would launch hydrogen-filling stations in Kereal to promote alternative fuels. The minister also expressed his gratitude to the state administration for its numerous efforts to promote environmentally friendly energy.

In Thiruvananthapuram, he was giving a speech at the Evolve-2023 conference and expo on e-mobility and alternative fuels.

Biju Prabhakar, the transport secretary, emphasised the state’s prior experiences with CNG and LNG buses and how those experiences prompted the state to switch to electric cars.

He discussed the replacement plan that involves bringing in 690 electric buses and presented a comparison of operational costs for diesel and electric vehicles. Additional Chief Secretary K R Jyothilal emphasised the use of fuel cells rather than lithium-ion batteries and speedier charging stations.

Transport Commissioner, S Sreejith, said that anxiety about range, battery charging, battery cost and the disposal of used batteries are some of the challenges in the transition to green fuels.
