Kundan Green Energy bags contract for 10 MW/40 MWh battery storage project in Bihar

Power Generation  -  Jun 26,2025  -

Kundan Green Energy announced that it has received a letter from Bihar State Power Generation Company. This letter gives them the go-ahead to build a 10-megawatt (MW) / 40-megawatt-hour (MWh) stand-alone battery energy storage system project at the Bettiah Grid Substation.

This battery storage system (BESS) will be able to release power for four hours within one day. This will help balance the electricity needs of users and the power grid's operations, according to a company statement.

The statement also said that Kundan Green Energy won the BESS project through a competitive bidding process where companies offered their prices. This shows their dedication to providing cheap and clean energy.

The project offers a monthly payment of Rs 4,44,000 per MW, and there's a special grant (VGF) of Rs 27,00,000 per MWh, making it a good long-term financial deal.

Over its 12-year operation, the project is expected to bring in about Rs 64 crore in total income. The next big step is signing the Battery Energy Storage Purchase Agreement (BESPA), which is expected by July 2025.
