The project is anticipated to cost $4,200 crore in total.<\/p>\n<p>The Indira Sagar Project&#8217;s existing reservoirs, Indira Sagar and Omkareshwar, will be used by NHDC to build a 525 MW Pumped Storage Project (PSP) close to the Indira Sagar Dam in Khandwa, Madhya Pradesh, according to an official release from the Union Power Ministry.<\/p>\n<p>It should be noted that NHDC is a partnership between the governments of Madhya Pradesh and NHPC. The project is being developed to meet the state&#8217;s rising peak hour electricity consumption.<\/p>\n<p>As per the statement, the energy needs of the state can be met during peak energy hours (morning and evening) through this project. It will generate 1,226.93 million units of energy during peak hours.
