Tamil Nadu plans mega textile parks in Chennai and Virudhunagar

A 1,500-acre textile park in Tamil Nadu’s southern region as well as a textile park in the state’s capital Chennai are planned.

According to Chief Minister MK Stalin, who recently stated that a small textile parks are also being built with subsidy support of 2.5 crore, the government will introduce a new integrated textile policy to entice investors.

Over 1,500 acres have been purchased by the State Industries Promotion Corporation of Tamil Nadu Ltd (SIPCOT) for a massive textile park in the Virudhunagar district’s Kumaralingapuram hamlet.

The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), in collaboration with the state’s department of textiles and the federal ministry of textiles, hosted the international conference on technical textiles while the chief minister was virtually speaking at the event.

The state government is offering subsidy support of ₹1.5 crore to textile entrepreneurs and is setting up export hubs in Karur, Tiruppur and Kancheepuram to raise textile exports from the state that comprises 12 per cent of the total textile exports from India now, he was quoted as saying by media reports from the state.
