Spain likely to invest in India’s bulk drug parks

Spain is aiming to invest in bulk pharmaceuticals parks in India that will help both countries’ supply chains for active pharmaceutical ingredients (API). The investment conversation is still in its early stages; subsequent consultation sessions will advance the proposal.

The 12th session of the India-Spain Joint Commission for Economic Cooperation (JCEC) conference was held in New Delhi in April 2023, and the Department of Pharmaceuticals, Government of India (GoI), attended. Spain and India have both decided to continue working together in a variety of areas, including technology, innovation, and the pharmaceutical industry.

On the basis of planning, investment, visibility, and other objectives, it is being investigated how to streamline the complexity of the supply chain from upstream to downstream.

In the area of API and intermediates production, India’s major supplies come from other countries, including China.
