NTPC REL floats tender for setting up 3,000 MWh RE storage facility

NTPC Renewable Energy (NTPC REL), a subsidiary of NTPC, has issued a request for proposals for the construction of a 3,000 MWh inter-state transmission system (ISTS)-connected energy storage facility in India.

NTPC REL plans to use an ISTS-connected energy storage solution with a capacity of 3,000 MWh and a 500 MW (minimum) capacity at any location in India to satisfy its RE RTC (Round the Clock) complementing wind and solar generation profile under the service model.

The project will have a minimum capacity of 100 MW and a minimum capacity of 600 MWh. The energy generated by the renewable energy projects will be used to charge the ESS plant.
