New 500 LPM Oxygen Plant Set Up in GMCH Guwahati to Support COVID-19 Patients

In response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic in India, a new 500 LPM capacity oxygen plant has been set up at the Cardiothoracic Neuroscience Centre of the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) in Guwahati. The plant was set up with the help of a public-private partnership and is expected to provide a steady supply of oxygen to COVID-19 patients in the region.

The oxygen plant was inaugurated by Assam Chief Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma, who praised the efforts of the GMCH and the private partner in setting up the plant. Speaking at the inauguration, the Chief Minister said, “This oxygen plant will help meet the growing demand for oxygen in the region and ensure that COVID-19 patients receive timely and adequate treatment.”

The plant was set up at a cost of INR 1.5 crore and was funded by a private company, with support from the Assam government. The plant is equipped with advanced technology and has the capacity to produce 500 litres of oxygen per minute, making it one of the largest oxygen plants in the region.

According to officials at the GMCH, the oxygen plant will help meet the growing demand for oxygen in the region and will ensure that COVID-19 patients receive timely and adequate treatment. The hospital has been treating a large number of COVID-19 patients in recent months, and the demand for oxygen has been steadily increasing.

The new oxygen plant is expected to help address the oxygen shortage in the region and ensure that COVID-19 patients receive the care they need. The plant is one of several initiatives that have been taken in recent months to increase the supply of medical oxygen in the country and support the healthcare infrastructure in the fight against COVID-19.
