JSW Energy Wins INR 150 Crore Solar PV Module Manufacturing Contract in India

JSW Energy Limited, an Indian power company, has announced that it has won a contract for the manufacturing of solar photovoltaic (PV) modules. The contract, which has been awarded by a leading solar power developer in India, has a total value of INR 150 crores.

Under the terms of the contract, JSW Energy will manufacture and supply solar PV modules for the developer’s upcoming solar power projects in the country. The modules will be manufactured at JSW Energy’s manufacturing facility in Maharashtra.

The company has stated that it plans to ramp up its solar PV manufacturing capacity to 1.5 GW by 2024, in line with the Indian government’s goal of achieving 100 GW of solar power capacity by 2022. The company has also expressed its commitment to reducing its carbon footprint and contributing to the growth of the country’s renewable energy sector.

Commenting on the contract win, Prashant Jain, Joint Managing Director and CEO of JSW Energy, said, “We are delighted to have won this contract, which is a testament to our manufacturing capabilities and our commitment to clean energy. We look forward to working with the developer to help them achieve their renewable energy goals.”

The demand for solar power in India has been steadily increasing in recent years, driven by the government’s push for clean energy and the falling cost of solar technology. As a result, the country has become one of the fastest-growing markets for solar power in the world.

JSW Energy, which is a subsidiary of the JSW Group, is one of India’s leading power companies, with a portfolio that includes thermal, hydro, and renewable power generation assets. The company has stated that it plans to expand its renewable energy portfolio in the coming years and contribute to India’s transition to a low-carbon economy
